Porcelain Unicorn Reflection

  1. 12 shots were used in the opening scene to give a good sense of the character and the setting that it was in. Using 12 shots gives us more detail than just a few shots.
  2. These shots create expectation for the audience as we are learning about the setting and what the character looks like which can give us expectation about the character.
  3. In the short film they use many different camera angles and one of the main camera angles shown is a low angle shot. A low angle shot is shown when the soldiers come in trying to look for the children. Having a low angle shot when the soldiers walk in gives them a sense of dominance and power.
  4. The point of view shot is used for one of the young boys when he sees the soldiers come in. It shows from his angle of hiding down low and the soldiers walking around. Again this gives the soldiers dominance as the young boys do not want to get caught and are frightened. This has an effect on the audience as a point of view shot makes it feel like you are in the characters position.
  5. It is important for film makers to use different camera angles when shooting as it makes the scene more interesting for the audience and creates tension. It is not very interesting just watching a scene with one camera angle as it is in the same position the whole time and it is more engaging to add more shots.
